YEREVAN. – In the next one or two decades, Armenia could become a neighbor of not Turkey, or not just Turkey, but of another country.
Ambassador Ara Papyan, who is a political scientist and Director of the Modus Vivendi Center, stated the aforesaid at a press conference on Monday. He noted this considering the possibility of the emerging of a Kurdish state, against the backdrop of the latest developments.
In his words, it is a fact that most of Western Armenia (eastern Turkey) is Kurdish-populated.
“We [i.e. Armenians] need to collaborate with them [i.e. Kurds] in various domains,” added Papyan. “A delicate game should be played here, since if we don’t get involved in that game, others will appear there.
“Naturally, we [i.e. the Armenians and Kurds] have both coinciding and conflicting interests.
“A common solution needs to be found.”
