YEREVAN. – The people of Armenia can stay calm: our army fulfills its task brilliantly, Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan said on Tuesday.

In fact, the number of shots from the Azerbaijani side increases and decreases on occasion, he added

“They have recently fired on the border with Armenia and on the line of contact with Nagorno-Karabakh. Of course, we have ensured implementation of appropriate preventive measures. There have been several attempts of sabotage and intelligence activities of groups which have been successfully thwarted by the Armenian Armed Forces,” the Minister said, adding that the situation is under control. 

The Azerbaijani side launched another reconnaissance and diversion infiltration attempt last Friday in an easterly direction of the Line of Contact between the Karabakh-Azerbaijani opposing forces. The advancement by the Azerbaijani special military forces comprising 20-25 soldiers, and drove them back their starting positions while causing them casualties.
