Grand opening of the 28th Moscow International Book Exhibition-Fair took place at the Exhibition of National Economic Achievements Complex in Moscow today. Armenia takes part in the event as a “thematic guest,” the Armenian pavilion being dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

Russian State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin, Iran’s Cultural and Islamic Guidance Minister Ali Jannati, Head of the Russian Press and Mass Media Federal Agency Mikhail Seslavinsky, Armenian Ambassador to Russia Oleg Yesayan and other high-ranking guests and leaders of international delegations delivered speeches at the opening of the exhibition-fair.

In his speech, Ambassador Yesayan referred to the exclusive role and significance of books in terms of the preservation and development of the Armenian national identity.

Following the opening ceremony, the high-ranking guests toured through the publishers’ pavilions. In the Armenian pavilion, President of Armenia’s Writers’ Union Edward Militonyan presented to Sergei Naryshkin and Ali Jannati the recent Armenian publications and the works of prominent Armenian writers.

On September 5, the project “Armenian Day” will be held in the framework of the 28th International Book Festival. The books of Armenian authors will be presented and a cultural concert program will be held.
