YEREVAN. – The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) needs to take real steps to prevent the impudent and undemocratic practices by Azerbaijan.

President of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Galust Sahakyan, stated the abovementioned at his talk with a delegation led by Bruno Le Roux, Head of the French NA Socialist Group.

Sahakyan also expressed his gratitude to Le Roux, who is one of the persons behind the French bill that criminalizes denial of the Armenian Genocide. He expressed the hope that the French parliament will be unswerving in the introduction and adoption of the new respective proposed law.

Speaker of the Armenian parliament also reflected on the aforesaid French delegation’s upcoming visit to Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), and noted that he underscores each such visit. In his words, regardless of whether being recognized or unrecognized, the people of Artsakh have achieved their right to live in freedom, and the international community should not disregard them.

Bruno Le Roux, for his part, likewise reflected on his delegation’s forthcoming visit to Nagorno-Karabakh. He stated that their objective is to interact with the people of Artsakh on location, and reaffirm that the people living there have the right to live in peace. The French MP also noted that the delegation members are aware of the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani boundary, and stated that ceasefire violations are unacceptable to the international community.
