YEREVAN. – The President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, on Thursday received director of the Border Guard Department of the Border Protection Service (BPS) of the Federal Security Service (FSC) of Russia, Nikolai Kozik, and head of the FSC Armenia Border Protection Department, Anatoly Mikheev.

At the outset of the talk, Kozik introduced to the President the newly appointed head of the Armenia Border Protection Department of the Russian FSC.

Sargsyan congratulated Major General Mikheev on his appointment, wished him success, and assured that the Armenian authorities stand ready to assist him during his tenure.

The President also stressed that Armenia-Russia strategic allied relations practically cover all domains of mutually beneficial cooperation, and in these relations, he attached great importance to close cooperation between the border protection troops of the two countries.

At the ensuing talk, the parties reflected on the joint activities—within the framework of the interstate agreement—between the Russian border protection troops in Armenia and the Armenian border guards, and which are aimed at protection of the state border and safeguarding the security.
