Armenia certainly does not like it too much that Azerbaijan buys weapons from Russia, but, perhaps, this is a matter of business and trade.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Edward Nalbandian, stated the aforesaid in an interview with the BBC Russian Service. He noted this responding to the query on his view regarding the fact that Russia sells weapons to both Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“We [i.e. Armenia] cooperate with Russia in the military sector, and accordingly, we purchase and receive weapons from Russia; there is nothing new here,” added the Armenian FM. “And [the fact] that Russia sells weapons to Azerbaijan and [numerous] other countries is also natural, since Russia is a country that manufactures arms; Russia is certainly very active in the arms market.”

At the same time, however, Nalbandian stressed that Armenia-Russia relations are solely allied.

“Calling the relations allied likewise means a lot,” he concluded.
