YEREVAN. – This is not a constitutional reform, but a wholly new Constitution that will undermine the foundations of the state.

First President of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan, who is also Founding Chairman of the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) Party, noted the aforementioned on Monday. He also called the ongoing constitutional reform process a “[risky] venture.”

In his words, the ANC has joined the “No” front against the proposed constitutional amendments because this front is a major initiative.

Ter-Petrosyan also praised the ANC faction’s respective activities in the National Assembly (NA).

The new draft Constitution of Armenia has been debated in the NA. Pursuant to this draft, the country will make a transition from a semi-presidential to a parliamentary system of governance.
