YEREVAN. – Relations between Armenia and Turkmenistan are developing dynamically and beneficially for both countries, Armenian deputy parliament speaker Eduard Sharmazanov said during a meeting with the delegation from Turkmenistan.

The Armenian lawmaker noted necessity to further strengthen interaction between the parliaments, especially friendship groups, to intensify mutual visits and to exchange experience in different areas.

Deputy speaker touched upon regional problems and thanked Turkmenistan for a balanced position on Karabakh. He underscored Armenia's aspiration, unlike Azerbaijan, for a negotiated settlement within the OSCE Minsk Group.

Speaking about Armenian-Turkish relations, Sharmazanov said Armenia supports opening of the border without preconditions.

“Twenty-first century is time of open borders, open without preconditions. Preconditions do not speak about democracy,” he said.

Deputy speaker of Turkmenistan Gurbangul Bayramova, for her part, thanked for a warm welcome and pointed to a great potential for expanding relations. Turkmenistan is studying Armenia's experience in different areas, she added. As to regional problems, Gurbangul Bayramova underscored Turkmenistan's neutral position, expressing hope that the Karabakh conflict will be settled through talks.

The sides expressed readiness to develop relations between the countries in different areas.
