Baku is showing indifference both to the concept of human life and security of its own people, Naira Zohrabyan, Armenia delegation member and Prosperous Armenia party leader said in PACE. 

The MP noted that the statements by the Azerbaijani delegate Huseynov that Armenia allegedly hinders the visit of any PACE rapporteur are a blatant lie.

Zohrabyan drew the attention of PACE to the events going on round Nagorno-Karabakh. She stressed that the recent tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border arouses serious concerns.

In Zohrabyan’s word, violating the basic principles of the peaceful negotiation process led under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group, Azerbaijan is using large-scale weaponry both in Line of Contact with Karabakh and on the border with Armenia. She also said that the victims included civilians, as well as 4 servicemen, who were engaged in their daily affairs at a distance of 5 km from the Line of Contact.   

“This is another attempt by the Azerbaijani authorities to distract the attention from the human rights situation and the growing criticism from the international community. Azerbaijan is declining the proposals to create a situation of trust and stability,” the MP said, reminding that the OSCE Minsk Group adopted a statement on September 26, in which they mentioned the necessity to create mechanisms on the investigation of the incidents.

Requesting PACE to pay greater attention to the situation, the MP also stressed that the Armenian Army is able to defend its state borders, as it has repeatedly proved.
