The Armenian tumbledown cemetery of Evci village, which is in Turkey’s Iğdır (Surmalu, in Armenian) Province bordering Armenia, was desecrated.
Head of the Istanbul Provincial Chapter of the pro-Kurdish “Peoples’ Democratic Party” (HDP), Armenian activist Murat Mıhçı, informed that two Armenians had visited this cemetery several days ago.
Subsequently, persons with a fascist mindset had destroyed the few still-standing tombstones, which still had crosses and Armenian inscriptions.
“The cemetery covered about 4 hectares, but now, barely half a hectare has remained,” noted Mıhçı. “Cemeteries are the memory drives of history. Where are those people who had a 4-hectare cemetery?”
