YEREVAN. – The armed forces and national security system of Armenia are capable of giving an equivalent response to the provocations in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Deputy Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Valery Semerikov, told the abovementioned to reporters during Wednesday’s opening ceremony of the CSTO “Indestructible Brotherhood 2015” military exercises which Armenia is hosting.

Semerikov, responding to a remark on the absence of a relevant CSTO reaction to the aforesaid provocations by Azerbaijan, first noted that a CSTO Collective Security Council decision is needed for each and every action by the CSTO collective forces. He added that the absence of a relevant CSTO reaction is possible because not too much time has yet passed.

He also stressed that making a respective decision now is unrealistic, and a relevant political decision needs to be made by the statutory bodies of the CSTO.

“[But] the statutory bodies do not disregard the situation,” noted Valery Semerikov.
