The Azeris are concerned about the welcome signboard by the entrance to the town of Tuzluca (Koghb) near Turkey’s Igdir province. The signboard includes the phrases “Welcome” and “Good-bye” in Armenian.

The Association for Turkish Azerbaijani Friendship is deeply concerned about the matter, the Turkish newspaper Bursadabugun reports.

According to Serdar Unsal, the Chairman of Igdir Azerbaijan House Association, the aforementioned Armenian signboard is unacceptable.

He demanded to consider the fact that Armenians had allegedly “been at enmity” with Turks for years and “carried out slaughter of the peaceful Turks.” Considering this, Unsal thinks it just to require removing the signboards.

Mehmet Gültekin, Mayor of Tuzluca and Kurdistan Democratic Party member, said that the phrase “Welcome” was also written in Armenian, since the town borders with Armenia, and used to be resided by Armenians who called it Koghb.
