On his last day of working trip to U.S., President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan attended a discussion held by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

In his address to the U.S. experts, the President referred to the priority issues in Armenia’s foreign policy, as well as the current international issues and challenges posing a threat to peace and security.

Sargsyan presented the issues and the situation in the region at the present stage of the negotiation process on peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict. He also referred to the Middle East crisis and Armenia’s stance on that matter. Sargsyan also presented the course and process of the constitutional changes implemented in Armenia with the support of the EU, as well as the logic of the amendments provided by the draft Constitution.  

Apart from this, the president responded to various questions of the discussion participants, specifically referring to the issues of Armenia’s socio-economic development, Armenia’s policy to achieve sustainable economic growth due to its involvement in integration processes, perspectives of Armenian-Turkish relations, etc.   

Sargsyan also had a separate talk with William Burns, the President of Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
