The meeting of 27-year-old Arsen Khachatryan from Yerevan and Claire Fahy from Ireland, who sent him a Christmas present 16 years ago, took place live in an Irish TV show. Accountant Arsen Khacatryan, who realized his childhood dream and left for Ireland, told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am.

Arsen left for Ireland on September 27, and already the next morning the long-awaited meeting took place and was aired during a morning TV show on an Irish channel.  

“I was very exited and tense, since shootings were carried out and it was a live broadcast. Claire knew I would come to Ireland, but couldn’t even suppose that we’ll meet with her live on TV. It was a very happy and touching meeting,” Arsen Khachatryan said.

He also noted that this kind story sparked great interest among the Irish media and he and Claire were invited to a number of TV programs.

Besides, Arsen and Claire took boxes of gifts packed by the students of one of the Irish schools, which will be sent to the schoolchildren from the countries of Eastern Europe and Africa on Christmas.  

“In Ireland I got known with the beautiful family of Claire. They live in a village and are a wonderful family. We also took the boxes with presents to the pupils of the school which Claire used to attend,” Arsen Khacahtryan said.

As reported earlier, Arsen Khacahtryan tracked down via Facebook an Irish woman who sent him a box of Christmas presents in the framework of a charity campaign 16 years ago.

The Irish woman was stunned when Arsen Khachatryan tracked her down on Facebook.

At the age of eight Claire had sent him a package including gloves, crayons, a notebook and a toothbrush as part of the Operation Christmas Child appeal. To prove he was genuine, Arsen sent a photo of Claire’s letter, noting that he wanted to thank her not for the box but for his childhood dreams.  

The Irish woman was also happy to receive a photo of Arsen with his wife and their baby.

She said: “He’s 27 now, has a lovely marriage and an eight-month-old daughter. He put himself through college to become an accountant and owns his own travel agency. He seems amazing.”

Claire added she hopes to stay in touch with Arsen, since he feels like a family member to her.
