The Head of the U.S.-led forces in Afghanistan apologized to the country’s President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani for the airstrikes which hit the hospital in Kunduz, Reuter reports, citing the Afghanistan President administration.

Earlier, the hospital run by international medical-aid organization Doctors Without Borders was partly destroyed during bombing on Sunday morning. 9 of the 200 people in the hospital died, 37 sustaining injuries, RIA Novosti reports.

NATO made a statement on the investigation into the hospital bombing. The Alliance doesn’t exclude that it happened as a result of the U.S. strike.
