The President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, on Thursday participated in the events organized on the 2,700th anniversary of Vagharshapat—better known as Etchmiadzin—city in the Armavir Province (PHOTOS). 

First, the President attended the unveiling of the monument of Sparapet (Supreme Commander) Vazgen Sargsyan, the late military commander and politician, and laid a wreath to the monument.

Next, Sargsyan visited the construction site of the city’s sports complex, took part in its groundbreaking ceremony, and got familiarized with the plans to build a sports school and upkeep the area.

In addition, Serzh Sargsyan visited the newly renovated art school of Etchmiadzin.

Subsequently, the President paid tribute to the fallen heroes of the Karabakh War, and placed flowers to their monument in the city.

Afterward, Sargsyan attended, in Vagharshapat Municipality, the celebratory meeting devoted to the 2,700th anniversary of Etchmiadzin.
