YEREVAN. – China actively promotes the combination of the joint construction of the Silk Road economic zone and the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), exerts efforts to facilitate the China-EEU trading procedures, and, of course, for the ultimate goal of creating a free trade zone.

Adviser of the embassy of China in Armenia, Lo Xisyun, told the aforementioned to reporters, along the lines of Friday’s conference on the Silk Road project of the 21st century.

He noted that the Armenian side supports the initiative of jointly creating the Silk Road economic zone.

“At the beginning of this year, Armenia joined the EEU, which enables the country to enter the 170-million [population-strong] market,” Lo said. “This fact opens additional opportunities for Armenian-Chinese investment cooperation.”

He also expressed a conviction that the joint construction of the Silk Road economic zone will provide new opportunities to make Armenian-Chinese collaboration grow deeper.

“The Chinese side stands ready to promote investment cooperation [with Armenia], (…) [and] tourism development,” Lo Xisyun added.
