Armenian Ambassador to Ukraine Andranik Manukyan left his leased residence after yesterday’s scandalous publication, the Ambassador told Armenian News – NEWS.am. He told our correspondent about his intention to terminate the contract back yesterday.

“The plaque and flag have already been removed: I’m leaving the house. [But] I must pay fine for the early termination. I’ve already managed to lease a house in the center,” Manukyan said.

To the question on why the Ambassador decided to leave the house if there were no problems and he didn’t agree with the facts in the publication, Manukyan said that no one had turned to him with the issue covered in media outlets during his stay in that house. “Law enforcement authorities could have told me about that, and I would have left the house with pleasure. It caused a lot of noise, especially in Armenian media outlets. Now I’m leaving the house,” the Ambassador said.

A publication appeared in media outlets yesterday, according to which the house of Marina Zhuravlyova, the wife of Victor Sivets, the ex-head of Ukraine’s State Forest Resource Agency, has allegedly turned into the residence of the Armenian Ambassador, thus getting immunity. Zhuravlyova is considered to belong to the persons close to Ukraine’s ex-President Victor Yanukovich.

Therefore, according to the media outlets, the immunity of the residence gives an opportunity to Yanukovich’s supporters to avoid possible searches when visiting Kiev after the well-known events.

Manukyan himself insists that he leased the house back in 2013, when nobody could suppose that a power change would take place in the country.
