YEREVAN. – A total of 7,269 people—that is, 103.8 percent of the planned task—were drafted in the summer, in the compulsory military service in Armenia, and 26 others were sent to alternative labor service.

Deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Movses Hakobyan, stated the abovementioned at Monday’s hearings in the National Assembly. 

He added that the summer military recruitment of the current year was conducted from July 1 through 31, and at a high level.

“[And] if we compare the number of those who went to alternative [civilian] service, [we would see that] it has increased,” Hakobyan stressed, in particular.
