The Russian Ministry of Defense urgently summoned the military attaché of the Turkish Embassy in Russia, who was presented with an official protest on the actions of Turkey’s Air Forces.  

“The Russian jet carrying out military task on the struggle against terrorism was downed by the Turkish Air Forces at 9:30 today. The Russian jet didn’t cross the Turkish border and was acting exclusively on the assets in the territory of Syria.

The military actions of the Russian aviation were implemented against the illegal terrorist formations, which include a large number of militants from Russia’s South Caucasus.  

Attempts of the Russian Defense Ministry specialists to organize an interaction with the Turkish side on emergency communication failed.   

We consider the actions of the Turkish Air Forces as an unfriendly act.

Currently, the Russian Ministry of Defense is working out a complex of measures on reacting to such incidents.

The military actions against the terrorists in Syria will continue,” the protest said, RT reports.
