We are still making many severe statements, but, as usual, the most combat-effective military subdivision was Rosselkhoznadzor (Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance), which instantly discovered certain listerias in the Turkish crow. Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny wrote the aforementioned in his blog in connection with the incident of Su-24 in Syria.

“The entire country wants to “cut Turkey down to size.” And, of course, we must undertake certain serious sanctions: I’ll reiterate, Erdogan downed our jet for PR and propaganda considerations, and not as a military or security measure. This can’t be    ignored, but there also shouldn’t be a military escalation,” he said, noting that Russia’s first step must be the official recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

“The moment is perfect and the measure is exactly political, but it’s extremely painful for Turkey. It’s from the sphere of “ah, if so, then we’ll…” and will resonate a lot. We should start from this.

Much is written, and the Wikipedia says that the Armenian Genocide has already been acknowledged. Yes, there is a 1995 statement of State Duma on condemning the Genocide.

But we are speaking about a political symbolism. The Armenian Genocide can be acknowledged endlessly (what several countries are doing). The level of acknowledgement can be raised. Genocide denial can be criminalized, like in France. Or countries not acknowledging it can be condemned. [Or Russia can] acknowledge [it] and impose liability. Establish Memorial days. Or work in the direction of the international acknowledgement,” Navalny said.
