Shooting down a warplane that was fighting against terrorism means aiding terrorists.

Vice President of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Eduard Sharmazanov, noted the abovementioned at his talk Thursday with chairman Sergei Naryshkin of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia.

The two men held a talk within the framework of the plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, and Sharmazanov stated the aforesaid in connection with the Turkish air force’s recent downing of a Russian Su-24 attack aircraft/interdictor on the Turkish-Syrian border.

“Armenia has proved that it is Russia’s ally, and the Russian people are a brotherly people for us,” the Armenian NA deputy chairman added. “But Turkey, unfortunately, has not changed over the past one hundred years.”

Sharmazanov also informed Naryshkin that Armenia welcomes the bill that was recently introduced at the Russian State Duma, and which stipulates accountability for denial of the Armenian Genocide.

Sergei Naryshkin, for his part, thanked Armenia for supporting Russia within international platforms. He also stressed that the crimes of the past need to be deservedly condemned, and this will enable to avoid the recurrence of such crimes.

And as for Turkey, head of the Russian State Duma specifically stated: “Turkey has stabbed us [i.e. Russia] in the back, which is entirely appropriate for cowards. Surely, not the Turkish people, but the political leadership of Turkey is guilty of the incident. And the political authorities of Turkey will still regret for this gravest crime.”
