YEREVAN. - The Czech Republic is one of Armenia’s most important partners in Europe, and our country is interested in deepening ties with the friendly Czech Republic. President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan said the aforementioned today at the meeting with the delegation led by the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Jan Hamáček.  

Sargsyan expressed hope that the visit of the Czech Republic MPs will contribute to the further enhancement of mutual ties, and will give an additional stimulus to the expansion of cooperation between the legislative authorities of Armenia and the Czech Republic. According to him, during their visit, the MPs will have the opportunity to get to know the Armenian people and Armenia better.

Sargsyan expressed satisfaction with the present level of the Armenian-Czech Republic inter-parliamentary cooperation, which is reflected in the active reciprocal visits of the MPs and close cooperation between the parliamentary friendship groups between the countries. 

The President thanked the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic Parliament for unanimous adoption of a resolution on the Armenian Genocide.

For his part, Jan Hamáček thanked President Sargsyan for the warm reception and highly appreciated the present level of the political dialogue and the close ties established between Armenia and the Czech Republic, as well as the practical implementation of active work aimed at further deepening of mutual relations.  

He also attached importance to the full use of the potential in the economic sphere, stressing that the MPs are ready to contribute to the expansion of ties in that field.

At the meeting, the interlocutors also referred to the development of cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral formats, including in different international institutions in the EU framework.

The sides also expressed satisfaction with the mutual efforts aimed at enhancing humanitarian ties.
