Events marking the 140th anniversary of the consecration of the Armenian cathedral of Holy Apostles Peter and Paul took place in Ukraine’s city of Chernivtsi.

The events were attended by the representatives of clergy, Chernivtsi’s Armenian community and citizens of the city. The Armenian cathedral in Chernivtsi was consecrated in 1875. Currently, it has been included in the list of buildings protected by the state.

Victor Davidovich, head of the regional Armenian national and cultural community “Arevik” told AnalitikaUA.net that another milestone event important for the Armenian community took place: Chernivtsi City Council adopted a decision on renaming the Karl-Liebknecht street into Karol Mikuli street. Mikuli (1819-1897), Armenian by descent, was Chernivtsi native, a virtuous pianist, composer, director, as well as founder of the Galitski Musical Community in Lviv.
