The assembly of helicopters, which arrived at the Russian airbase Erebuni in Armenia by the end of 2015, has been completed.

The squadron of the army air force consists of over 10 Mi-24 and Mi-8 helicopters, Southern Military District (SMD) press-service reports. The technical engineer personnel specialists equipped all the helicopters with component parts in a course of a month. 

The first flight calibration including two helicopters was carried out by the crew teams in highlands and in conditions of low temperature regime by the end of 2015.

After the test completion of the aviation technology, the crew teams of the aviation will start holding exercises on the program of combat training in mountainous areas during daylight and night hours.

13 units of the squadron of the SMD army air force arrived at the Russian airbase Erebuni in October-November of 2015. The construction of landing ground for helicopters, parking lots and military service facilities will start this year.

Erebuni Air Base has become a component of the 102nd Russian Military Base in Gyumri, Armenia.
