Armenian diplomat Movses Abelian has been appointed UN Assistant Secretary-General of the Department of General Assembly and Conference Management, Voice of America reports.
Mr. Abelian has over 25 years of experience in peace and security issues, including in the area of conflict resolution and conducting talks.
In the past, Mr. Abelian was the Permanent Representative of Armenia to the UN.
He was educated in Armenia, Russia and the United States. Abelian has been working in the UN since 1992.
