YEREVAN. - Armenian PM Hovik Abrahamyan today received the delegation led by the Georgian Defense Minister Tinatin Khidasheli.

Welcoming Ms Khidasheli’s visit to Armenia, the PM noted that visits on such level foster the development and enhancement of ties between the two neighboring states and people.

Stressing that the political and economic relations between Armenian and Georgia are on a high level, Mr Abrahamyan attached importance to the development of cooperation also in the sphere of defense, which, according to him, will strengthen the security in two friendly states, as well as in the entire region.

According to the PM, in the context of resisting the challenges resulted in the current difficult geopolitical situation, cooperation in the sphere of defense and security has become not only an urgent issue, but also an imperative.  

For her part, Ms Khidasheli noted that in the sphere of defense, the cooperation between Armenia and Georgia is carried out not only in a bilateral format, but also in the framework of NATO’s peacekeeping mission.

Besides, the Georgian Defense Minister attached importance to the enhancement of regional security and ensurance of peace.  

At the meeting, the interlocutors also exchanged ideas on a range of issues of bilateral interest.
