YEREVAN. – Due to geopolitical developments, not only the need for, but also the chance of natural gas price reduction is apparent in Armenia.

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan stated the aforementioned at Thursday’s Cabinet session.

“The price of the energy resources, which don’t hinder the competitiveness of the products of the businesses of the Republic of Armenia, is crucial for them,” he noted.

Abrahamyan added that they are interested so that Gazprom Armenia CJSC, which is a key infrastructure for the country, be stable and reasonably profitable.

“But the [gas] prices [in Armenia] need to be affordable and profitable for the economy and population, too,” the PM stressed. “The reduction in the volume of gas consumption [in the country] clearly shows that the company can have higher revenues in case of lower prices.”
