YEREVAN. - Certain roads in villages will have to be constructed actually from scratch.

First Deputy Minister of Transport and Communication Artur Araqelyan said the aforementioned at a parliamentary debate on a new loan agreement with the World Bank.

“The roads in the regions which we are repairing will help develop the provinces. Some of them will literally be reconstructed, since only traces have remained of them,” he said.

The roads will serve for 8-15 years; their collector drains and other infrastructure will also be capitally repaired, Araqelyan said.

In selecting roads for repair, the Transport Ministry will take into account the condition of the roads and the social situation round them.

In the framework of the World Bank’s Program on “Improvement of Roads of Vital Importance,” Armenia is provided a loan in the amount of $40 mln.
