YEREVAN. – The Government of Armenia and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on Friday signed—at the Armenian Government Building—the agreement on the “Support  to Implementation of Armenia’s Anticorruption Strategy” project.

Press Office of the Government informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that the document was signed by the Government Chief of Staff-Minister, Davit Harutyunyan, and Director of the USAID/Armenia Mission, Karen Hilliard.

The objective of this program is to provide assistance to the Armenian government staff to carry out the 2015-2018 anticorruption strategy.

The total project cost is 806,390 US dollars.

After the signing ceremony, Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan noted that there is a clear political will to implement this anticorruption strategy in Armenia, and that the signing of this agreement is an important component of achieving respective success.

Hilliard, in turn, welcomed the Armenian government’s consistent efforts to fight against corruption. In her words, the USAID assists both the Armenian government in its initiatives on transparency, and the Armenian civil society in its oversight efforts.

Stressing that Armenia-USAID cooperation has always been effective, she expressed confidence that their joint efforts in combating corruption also will succeed.
