YEREVAN. – Deputy Minister of Justice Arman Tatoyan’s nomination to the office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia was approved at Friday’s meeting of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia National Assembly (RPA NA) Faction.

Tatoyan likewise was in attendance to this meeting.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, and in response to Armenian News-NEWS.am’s query on whether he believes he will be able to work unwaveringly and protect the Armenian citizens’ rights should he be elected the new Ombudsman, Tatoyan said: “Yes, I’m sure that I can be unwavering and work equivalently to the tasks put before the Ombudsman.”

To note, opposition Heritage NA Faction Head Zaruhi Postanjyan, opposition Prosperous Armenia Party Political Board member Makar Yeghiazaryan, and Narek Eloyan also have been nominated to the Armenian Ombudsman’s office.

On February 12, members of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs will elect one of these candidates, and submit the nomination to the NA plenary session.
