YEREVAN. – Government of the Republic of Armenia (RA) has allowed building a new thermal power station (TPS) in Vanadzor city, according to Zhoghovurd daily.

“The noteworthy part of this project is that the RA authorities do not disclose who the potential investors are, on whom they place hopes.

“It is only informed that the tracks of the money needed for the construction of the new TPS lead to Great Britain, toward [Armenia’s] Ambassador [to UK and former Prime Minister of Armenia] Armen Sarkissian.

“But at the same time it is known that Britain does not exert many efforts not to allow ‘dirty’ money circulation through its territory. That is, no one can rule out that, in reality, Armenia officials, who wish—through an offshore company—to in this way invest and legalize the money stolen from the state budget, could be behind the project of building the new TPS,” Zhoghovurd wrote.
