YEREVAN. - Promulgation of voter lists is a violation of human rights.

Secretary of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) faction, Gagik Melikyan, told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am correspondent.

“The international organizations also think that the promulgation of the voter lists is a violation of human rights. The most serious international organizations have their arguments concerning this matter,” Melikyan said.

The RPA MP is also against the opposition’s proposal to vote by fingerprints. With regard to the position that the opposition considers this as the best method in struggle against repeated voting, Melikyan noted that there are different mechanisms of e-voting, including voting by ID cards. “Voting by fingerprints is one proposal, but there will also be others, which will be discussed,” the MP said.

Responding to the question on what is hidden in those lists and why they are so frightened to promulgate them, Melikyan said: “No political force - regardless of being pro-governmental or oppositional - will be able to hide anything in the voter lists.”
