According to the data of the largest international tour operator TUI, holiday bookings to Turkey have reduced by 40 per cent, Gazeta reports, citing The Independent.
The demand for holidays in Turkey has dropped as a result of numerous disorders and terror acts which took place in Turkey recently.
The drop was first observed in German market. The reason was the terror act in Istanbul, which targeted a group of German tourists. Apart from this, the company incurs losses due to the Russia’s ban on charter flights because of the Su-24 incident.
As an alternative, the tour operator is now offering destinations to Spain and the Canaries, where the company has its own hotel base. Many tourists have also started choosing holidays in Greece.
