YEREVAN. – The second wind turbine has started operations in Armenia.

The Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Hayk Harutyunyan, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The Arats wind turbine, which is installed near the town of Kajaran in Syunik Province, was issued a license from the Public Services Regulatory Commission in March 2015, and it was connected to the country’s power grid in the summer.

As per the deputy minister, even though this wind turbine is just 285 kW in capacity, it is joyous that yet another wind turbine has been put into operation in Armenia.

Arats was built by the own resources of the investors.

The first wind turbine in Armenia—and in the South Caucasus—is the 2.64 MW-capacity Lori 1, which started operations in 2005, and with the grants provided by the Iranian government.
