YEREVAN. – An international tender will be announced to select the contractor organization for the project of constructing the Armenia-Georgia overhead electric power transmission line.

The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that at present, the project consultant, Fichtner GmbH & Co. KG, is preparing the respective tender package.

The project aims to join the Armenian and Georgian energy systems.

According to the preliminary estimation by the Fichtner consultancy services, the project cost is €326.9 million, whose 10 percent is the share of Georgia.

The project is planned to be implemented in several phases.

The overhead power line construction will begin early next year, and it is expected to be completed by late 2018.

The project is carried out with assistance by the German government-owned KfW Development Bank.
