YEREVAN. – At present, changing the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group format and engaging Iran is inconvenient for Armenia because, in this case, Azerbaijan would want to make Turkey get more active.

Iranian Studies specialist Gohar Iskandaryan stated the above-said at a press conference on Thursday.

She recalled that, in the past, Iran had been a mediator in the efforts to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and it had had a quite positive impact on the process of conflict settlement.

“[But] I believe that the status quo should be maintained, and the end of the process [should be] awaited,” Iskandaryan stressed.

In her words, Iran’s respective position is that the conflict should be resolved through peace talks.

“Iran is continuing the balanced policy [of its] in the Caucasus region, and becoming a quite influential player,” the Iranian Studies specialist added.
