Northwestern Syrian town of Kessab, which borders Turkey, received humanitarian aid from Russia and Syria, TASS news agency of Russia reported citing the local authorities.

Two Russian cargo planes transported 50 tons of humanitarian aid to Khmeimim Russian airbase near Latakia, Syria.

The aid is intended for the Syrian towns and regions that are under a blockade by terrorists.

Aside from food and medicine, these planes also brought clothes and school supplies to Syria.

Two years ago, the predominately Armenian-populated town of Kessab was attacked by the Jabhat al-Nusra and the Ahrar ash-Sham militants. At present, however, Syrian government army troops are deployed there.
