The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is not engaged in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement process, CSTO Secretary General Nikolay Bordyuzha stated at a videoconference on Friday.

Reflecting on the Armenian President’s address at the most recent CSTO summit and the Armenian authorities’ dissatisfaction with the CSTO position on the situation along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, Bordyuzha specifically said: “The situation refers to one of our most important allies, Armenia. The OSCE [i.e. the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe]-created other international institutions [i.e. the OSCE Minsk Group] are dealing with the resolution of the conflict. For that reason, there is no sense in any way changing the CSTO position on this delicate matter.

“The [respective] CSTO position is simple and clear: all member countries favor peacefully resolving the conflict. All the countries are against the escalation of tension, the use of heavy arms and equipment on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.”
