YEREVAN. - Relations between Armenia and EU have promising perspectives.

Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian stated the aforementioned today at a joint briefing with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini.

The FM reminded that the briefing was preceded by the meeting with the president.

''During today's meetings, the development of ties and process of negotiations round the new legal framework were discussed,'' Nalbandian noted.

According to him, there is a precise plan for talks: the groups regularly meet and progress has been recorded. The FM also confirmed Armenia's readiness to expand the cooperation in all dimensions, considering the country's obligations in other integration processes. Nalbandian thanked the European side for the continuing support.

Referrng to the cooperation with the EU, the FM stressed the important dimension of making the communities closer. In his words, with this respect, the shift to talks over the liberalization of the visa regime is important. 

During the talks, the sides also touched on the situation in the region, the Middle East, Syria and struggle against terrorism.

In this connection, Nalbandian informed that nearly 20,000 Syrian migrants have found shelter in Armenia.

Touching on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Mogherini reconfirmed EU's unconditional support to the OSCE Minsk Group. 

''The maintanance of status quo doen't proceed from anyone's interests, but the attempts to change the formal, which aim to escalate the situation, and the refusal to create investigative mechanisms contribute to extending the status quo'', the FM noted, stressing that there is no alternative to talks.

''The relations between Armenia and EU are on a high level and have promising perspectives,'' Nalbandian concluded.
