YEREVAN. - The memorial service for Gegham Grigoryan, prominent Armenian opera singer and stage manager, was held today at A. Spendiaryan National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Yerevan.
The service was attended by the singer’s relatives, friends and artists, as well as Armenia’s Culture Minister Hasmik Poghosyan.
“Gegham Grigoryan was indispensable, although they say there are no indispensable people. Something will remain empty after his death. Each talent and genius is born with his own peculiarities. His beautiful tenor was universal. Fortunately, Gegham Grigoryan had many students. Those students are our hope. They will continue his work,” Hasmik Poghosyan told the journalists.
Gegham Grigoryan’s funeral service will be held tomorrow at 2:00 pm. He will be laid to rest at Komitas Pantheon in Yerevan.
