YEREVAN. – Saying that Armenia-Georgia relations are good neighborly means saying nothing.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Edward Nalbandian,  on Friday expressed such a view during his joint news conference—in capital city of Yerevan—with visiting Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze.

As per the Armenian FM, there are close ties between the two nations.

“Mutual respect and time-tested mutual outlook is on their basis,” Nalbandian noted adding that these relations are broadening and deepening.

“There are no problems between Armenia and Georgia that can’t be solved with joint efforts,” the Armenian FM noted.

In his words, implementation of the agreements reached between the two presidents, and the broad agenda of bilateral relations were discussed during the Yerevan talks of the Armenian and Georgian FMs.

Edward Nalbandian stated that there are more than eighty signed agreements and a rich legal framework between the two countries.

The parties had agreed to intensify ties between the two foreign ministries, and exchanged views on the activities of intergovernmental commissions.

They also conferred on the avenues for the development of transport infrastructure, and cooperation in the energy and tourism sectors.

The cooperation continues also with respect to the preservation of Armenian cultural heritage in Georgia.

Edward Nalbandian said he briefed his Georgian colleague on the latest developments in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.

“He is the first high-ranking foreign guest in the new building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia,” he stressed. “It’s a pleasure to share this moment with my colleague from the friendship country.”
