YEREVAN. – The Ministry of Defense (MOD) of Armenia official confirms the information regarding Azerbaijan’s active attacks all along the Line of Contact between the Karabakh-Azerbaijani opposing forces, from late Friday night through early Saturday morning hours

During these actions, the adversary—using tanks, artillery, and air force—attempted to infiltrate into the depths of the defense of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Defense Army, and occupy tactical positions.

At this time, and as a result of active operations by the NKR Defense Army divisions, the adversary has been pushed back having suffered numerous casualties. 

But the military actions continue.

The Armenian MOD strongly condemns the Azerbaijani authorities’ unprecedentedly aggressive and irresponsible decision to start military actions, and formally announces that their continuation can lead to unpredictable consequences for the Azerbaijani side.

The Azerbaijani authorities bear the entire accountability for the unprecedented exacerbation of the situation along the Line of Contact of the Karabakh-Azerbaijan armed forces.

The MOD of Armenia invites the international community’s—especially the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs’—attention to the current situation, and expects an immediate targeted intervention to keep the situation under control and avoid large-scale military actions.
