The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) has not always lived up to expectations, and it is unable to prevent a number of negative phenomena.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Edward Nalbandian, stated the aforesaid at Friday’s Moscow session of the Council of CIS Foreign Ministers.

He noted this reflecting on the most recent military actions, which Azerbaijan unleashed against Nagorno-Karabakh.

“Azerbaijan absolutely trampled the numerous calls by the international community to resolve the [Nagorno-Karabakh] problem solely through peace,” Nalbandian added.

Also, he spoke about the potential reforms within the CIS, and the avenues for raising the effectiveness of this organization.

The FMs of the CIS member countries discussed and approved the drafts of around more than a dozen documents on cooperation within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
