March commemorating the 101st anniversary of the Armenian Genocide was held in Syrian capital city Damascus Saturday.
The event participants marched to the square recently named after the Armenian Genocide Martyrs with the Syrian and Armenian flags, as well as the icon of the Armenian Genocide martyrs, local SANA news agency reports. The protestors marched to the Armenian Orthodox Diocese of Damascus in Bab Sharqi district.
The Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Damascus earlier held an event commemorating the 101st year of the tragedy that took place in the beginning of the 20th century. Armenian Ambassador to Syria Arshak Poladyan also attended the event.
