YEREVAN. – Azerbaijan will have to return to the talks because the negotiations have no alternative, Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian on Sunday told reporters at the Armenian Genocide Memorial, in capital city Yerevan.

In his words, Azerbaijan lost in the Karabakh peace talks, and that is why it attempted to find a military solution of this matter; but the military solution likewise failed.

As per Nalbandian, an issue of territorial concessions was not discussed during his recent Yerevan talk with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

“There are proposals by the three chairs [of the OSCE Minsk Group], which were made in the five well-known statements at the level of the presidents of Russia, the US and France, based on which Armenia has repeatedly stated that it can continue the negotiations, it can go to settlement, whereas Azerbaijan is disregarding them,” the Armenian FM said, in particular.

According to him, the Karabakh conflict settlement will be on the basis about which the President, and also the FM, repeatedly stated.

“If the proposals made had been convenient for Azerbaijan, it would not have put itself in an impasse and would not have resorted to new hostilities,” Edward Nalbandian stressed, in particular.
