Prominent Armenians, intellectuals, artists all around Anatolia, mainly Istanbul, were sent to an exile with an uncertain end, 101 years ago, on 24 April 1915. 24 April was the first chain of a major disaster.

Istanbul Armenian attorney Selina Özuzun Doğan, who is an MP from the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) of Turkey, wrote the aforesaid on her Facebook account.

“101 years are gone by. We remember and will not forget those who lost their lives,” she added and continued: “We attended the [Sunday church] service at the Armenian Patriarchate [of Constantinople] (…) together with AKP Istanbul MP Markar Eseyan, HDP Istanbul MP Garo Paylan (…).”

Istanbul Armenian Journalist Markar Esayan is a deputy from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), and Istanbul Armenian activist Garo Paylan is a deputy from the pro-Kurdish “Peoples’ Democratic Party” (HDP) of Turkey.
