YEREVAN. – Creation of a mechanism for investigating the incidents along the Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact has become a priority.

Harlem Désir, the French Minister of State for European Affairs, noted the abovementioned at his talk Monday with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that Désir informed Nalbandian that, after attending the Armenian Genocide anniversary commemorations in Paris on Sunday, he came to Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan to honor, at the Armenian Genocide Memorial, the victims of this tragedy.

The FM, for his part, stressed that Armenia lauds France’s principled position on the Armenian Genocide issue, and the fact that in 2001, this calamity was recognized by law in France.

Separately, Edward Nalbandian presented his interlocutor the consequences of the scale-military actions which Azerbaijan recently unleashed against Nagorno-Karabakh, and in this context, he underscored the need for international community efforts to surmount these consequences.

They stressed that there is no military solution to the settlement of this conflict.

Harlem Désir, for his part, assured that France, as an Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group co-chairing country, will continue to be actively involved in the pacific resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The Armenian foreign minister and the French minister of state for European affairs also discussed matters that are on the agenda of Armenian-French relations.
