YEREVAN. - The international community must recognize the independence of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) to prevent the greater threat to the population of the mentioned country, European Parliament deputy Frank Engel said at a press-conference in Yerevan Monday.

In his words, all the legal arguments in this regard are of limited nature. “All the comparisons with analogous situations, for instance, with Kosovo, are of limited nature. This means that together with our colleagues from European Parliament and national parliaments, we must exert every effort to achieve recognition of NKR. If this doesn’t happen, Nagorno-Karabakh will be in great danger, and this is the result which should come about in the civilized world neither in 2016 nor later,” Engel stressed.
