The most important thing today is ensuring peace in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, Nikolay Bordyuzha, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), told reporters on Tuesday.

He noted that the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh is of great importance for ensuring security in the zone under the CSTO responsibility.

“If there is recurrence, there will come a time when we will consider direct and active arming of the confrontation, which will ‘blow up’ the entire Caucasus,” Bordyuzha said, according to RIA Novosti news agency of Russia. “At that time, many countries will be involved in this conflict, and this will reflect on many peoples of the Caucasus; this is very serious.

“I believe that the most important today is the ensuring of peace there. Otherwise, there will be a very big war in the Caucasus; I would not like for such a thing to happen.”
